1The school festival tops the list of events Japanese high school girls enjoy, a survey found. A research group in Tokyo called SHIBUYA109 lab. did the survey in July. It asked 484 girls and young women aged 15 to 24 in and around Tokyo. Among high school students, 70.5 percent chose the school festival.

2Sports day came second with 65.0 percent. School trips and camps came third with 62.3 percent. Among university students, Christmas and the holidays came first.

3In Japan, a school festival is called bunkasai. Students show what they have learned and made. Food stalls and displays are common. Many high schools hold their festival in September.

1日本の女子高校生が楽しんでいる行事のリストで、文化祭が1位になったことが、ある調査でわかりました。東京の研究グループ「SHIBUYA109 lab.」が、7月に調べました。東京とそのまわりに住む、15〜24歳の女性484人に聞きました。高校生では、70.5%が文化祭を選びました。

22位は体育祭で、65.0%でした。3位は修学旅行や合宿で、62.3%でした。大学生では、クリスマスや年末の休みが1位でした。

3日本では、学校のお祭りを「文化祭」とよびます。生徒たちは、学んだことや作ったものを発表します。食べ物のお店や展示は、文化祭の定番です。9月に文化祭を開く高校が多いです。

4インタビューでは、友だちと文化祭用のTシャツを作ったと話す女子がいました。おそろいの服のテーマを、TikTokで調べて決めたという話もありました。この調査で聞いたのは女性だけで、男子には聞いていません。

文法ポイント：受け身（be動詞 + 過去分詞）

「～される」「～とよばれる」と言うときは be動詞 + 過去分詞。本文の a school festival is called bunkasai は「学校のお祭りは bunkasai とよばれる」という意味。call A B（A を B とよぶ）の受け身の形。
