New Rules Protect Workers From Rude Customers
1New rules to protect workers from rude customers started in Japan on October 1. All companies must now take steps against customer harassment. In Japanese, it is often called kasuhara.
2Customer harassment means words or actions by customers that go too far and hurt workers. Shouting, threats, and impossible demands are some examples. Forcing a worker to kneel and say sorry is also included. The rules cover attacks on the phone and on social media, too.
3Companies must make a clear plan and tell their workers about it. They must also set up a place where workers can talk about problems. When something happens, they must check the facts quickly and help the worker.
4The government says workers should not face a difficult customer alone. Companies should call the police if a customer may be breaking the law.

文法ポイント:助動詞 must(~しなければならない)
Companies must make a clear plan.
