1California has made new rules about AI at work. The state's governor, Gavin Newsom, signed several new laws on September 30.

2Some companies use AI to help them make decisions about workers. Under one new law, companies cannot use only AI to fire or punish workers.

3Another law is about jobs that disappear because of AI. Companies must tell workers when AI is the reason for large job cuts.

4Other laws protect the privacy of workers. For example, companies cannot use AI to watch workers in bathrooms. Doctors and nurses, not AI, will also have the final say about patient care.

5Workers' unions asked for many of these rules. Nine bills had support from the unions, and seven became law. The governor rejected the other two.

全文訳

1アメリカのカリフォルニア州が、職場でのAIについて新しいルールを作りました。州知事のギャビン・ニューサム氏が、9月30日にいくつかの新しい法律に署名しました。

2働く人についての判断をするのに、AIを使う会社もあります。新しい法律の1つでは、会社はAIだけで社員をやめさせたり罰したりすることはできません。

3別の法律は、AIのせいでなくなる仕事についてのものです。会社は、AIが大量の人減らしの理由になったときは、働く人に知らせなければなりません。

4ほかの法律は、働く人のプライバシーを守ります。たとえば、会社はAIを使ってトイレで働く人を見張ることができません。また、患者の治療について最後に決めるのは、AIではなく医師や看護師になります。

5労働組合が、こうしたルールの多くを求めていました。組合が支持した法案は9つで、そのうち7つが法律になりました。残りの2つは、知事が拒否しました。

文法ポイント：関係代名詞 that（主格）

that + 動詞 が前の名詞を説明する。本文の jobs that disappear because of AI は「AIのせいでなくなる仕事」という意味。
