1Scientists in Canada have found two new kinds of sea spiders. They are the first new sea spiders named in these waters in almost 100 years.

2Sea spiders live in the ocean, but they are related to spiders on land. Some kinds have as many as 12 legs. They breathe through their skin.

3One of the new species has red eyes and long, curved spines on its legs. Its name comes from the Latin words for hairy feet. It can clean its body with special legs.

4The other new species cannot clean itself very well. It is often covered with dirt and tiny living things.

5A university student found the sea spiders while diving off Canada's west coast. He dove as deep as 18 meters. He thinks more new species are waiting to be found.
