W杯優勝はスペイン!延長戦でアルゼンチンを破り2度目の世界一
Spain Wins Its Second World Cup After Extra Time
1Spain won the 2026 FIFA World Cup on July 19, beating defending champion Argentina 1-0 after extra time at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. It was Spain's second World Cup title, after its first in 2010.
2Spain controlled most of the match but could not score in regulation time. Argentina did not manage a single shot in the first 90 minutes, and Spain outshot it 20-3 over the whole game. Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez made the most saves ever recorded in a World Cup final.
3The game turned in the last minutes of regulation, when Argentina's Enzo Fernández received a second yellow card and was sent off. Argentina had to play all of extra time with 10 men. Ferran Torres, who had come on as a substitute in the second half, scored the winner in the 106th minute. The goal came just after the start of the second period of extra time.
4The victory made Spain the first country to hold the men's and women's World Cup titles at the same time. Spain's women won their world title in 2023. At 65, Spain's coach, Luis de la Fuente, is now the oldest coach to win the World Cup.
5The tournament was the first with 48 teams, and it was hosted by Canada, Mexico and the United States. More than six million fans attended matches during the tournament. Spain gave up only one goal in eight matches, the fewest ever allowed by a World Cup champion.
