Phones After Bedtime

1American teens used their phones for about 50 minutes on school nights, a study found. The researchers looked at the hours between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. These are the hours when teens should be asleep.

2The study looked at 657 teens aged 13 to 18. An app on their Android phones recorded which apps they used. The data was collected from 2022 to 2024.

3Social media apps like TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube took up more than 30 minutes. Video apps and games came next. More than half of the teens used their phones between midnight and 4 a.m. at least once.

4The study did not measure how long the teens slept. Other studies have linked just 10 to 15 more minutes of sleep to better thinking and mental health. The researchers said future studies should look at how night phone use affects sleep and schoolwork.

文法ポイント:間接疑問(which / how long + 主語 + 動詞)

本文の recorded which apps they used や did not measure how long the teens slept がその例。
