1Two visitors found a large yellow diamond at a park in Arkansas, in the United States. The diamond is 6.03 carats. It is about the size of a fingernail.

2The park is called Crater of Diamonds State Park. Visitors can dig in a large field and look for diamonds. They can keep any stones they find.

3The two friends were looking through rocks and dirt on January 25, 2026. One of them was streaming live on social media at the time. During the stream, he spotted a shiny yellow stone. Park workers checked it on February 6 and said it was a real diamond.

4It is the biggest diamond found at the park so far this year. One expert said a diamond like this could be worth about 250,000 dollars. The finder hopes to sell it and share the money with his friend.

全文訳

1アメリカのアーカンソー州の公園で、2人の訪問者が大きな黄色いダイヤモンドを見つけました。そのダイヤモンドは6.03カラットです。大きさは、つめくらいです。

2その公園は、クレーター・オブ・ダイヤモンド州立公園という名前です。訪れた人は、広い畑のような場所を掘ってダイヤモンドをさがすことができます。見つけた石は、どれでも自分のものにできます。

文法ポイント：過去進行形（was / were + ～ing）

過去のある時点で「～しているところだった」ことを表す。本文の The two friends were looking through rocks and dirt や One of them was streaming live がその例。そこへ別のできごと（saw the stone）が起きた、という流れでよく使う。
