1Twin giant pandas left Ueno Zoo in Tokyo on January 27, 2026. Their names are Xiao Xiao and Lei Lei. Now there are no giant pandas anywhere in Japan. This is the first time since 1972.

2The twins were born at the zoo in June 2021. A truck took them to Narita Airport, and then they flew to China.

3Pandas in other countries are borrowed from China. Even babies born abroad belong to China. The twins' parents went back to China in 2024.

4Many fans came to the zoo in the cold to say goodbye. Some of them wore panda hats. There are no plans for new pandas to come to Japan.

全文訳

12026年1月27日、双子のジャイアントパンダが東京の上野動物園を出発しました。名前はシャオシャオとレイレイです。これで日本には、どこにもジャイアントパンダがいなくなりました。こうなるのは1972年以来初めてです。

2双子は2021年6月にこの動物園で生まれました。トラックで成田空港へ運ばれ、そこから飛行機で中国へ向かいました。

3外国にいるパンダは、中国から借りているものです。外国で生まれた赤ちゃんでさえ、中国のものなのです。双子の両親は2024年に中国へ帰っていました。

4たくさんのファンが、寒い中お別れを言いに動物園へ来ました。パンダの帽子をかぶった人もいました。新しいパンダが日本に来る予定はありません。

文法ポイント：受け身（be動詞 + 過去分詞）

「～される」を表す。本文の Pandas in other countries are borrowed from China. や They were born at the zoo. がその例。
