Whales Blowing Bubble Rings
1Humpback whales have been seen blowing bubble rings near people. The rings look like big donuts made of air. Scientists in the United States reported this in June 2025.
2They collected videos and photos from around the world. In total, 11 whales made 39 rings. Many of the whales swam close to boats or swimmers first. Then they blew the rings.
3Humpback whales often use bubbles to catch fish. But these rings were different. The whales seemed friendly and curious about people. The scientists think the whales may be playing. They may also be trying to talk to humans in their own way.
4One scientist on the team studies how to find life in space. He said curious whales can teach us how other smart beings might try to contact us. Another expert said more videos are needed to be sure.

文法ポイント:助動詞 may(~かもしれない)
本文の the whales may be playing は「クジラは遊んでいるのかもしれない」。
