Tiny Bits of Plastic Found in Human Brains

1Scientists in the United States have found tiny pieces of plastic in human brains. They studied brain samples from people who died. The study was published in February 2025.

2The pieces were too small to see with your eyes. Many of them were smaller than a thousandth of a millimeter. Most were polyethylene, a plastic used for bags and containers.

3The scientists also compared samples from 2016 and 2024. The newer samples had about 50 percent more plastic. The scientists said the growing amount of plastic waste may be the reason.

4Nobody knows yet if this plastic is bad for our health. The scientists said their ways of measuring plastic are not perfect yet. They are now working on better ways to measure it.

5Plastic takes many years to break down. So the scientists expect the amount in nature to keep growing for years.

文法ポイント:too ~ to ...(…

The pieces were too small to see with your eyes.
