感染症ニュースは「数え方」で読む
感染症の報道は数字の主語が決まっている。cases（感染者・症例）、deaths（死者）、hospitalizations（入院者数）。The number of new cases rose to 500.（新規感染者は500人に増えた）のように使い、case を「ケース・場合」と訳すと意味が通らない。また spread（広がる）・surge（急増）・peak（ピーク）・decline（減少）の動詞で流れをつかむと、グラフ問題や要約問題が速く解ける。
