💡 どんな意味・どんなときに使う？
pay attention to ~ は「〜に注意を払う、〜に注目する」という意味の熟語です。attention を「支払う」という発想で、注意力を何かに向けるイメージです。pay close attention to ~（〜に細心の注意を払う）、pay little attention to ~（〜にほとんど注意を払わない）のように、attention の前に形容詞を置いて程度を表すことができます。受動態は attention is paid to ~ となり、論説文でよく使われます。to は前置詞なので、動詞を続けるときは動名詞にします。共通テストのリスニングの指示文にも出てくる身近な表現です。
