A New Dinosaur From an Old Drawer

1Scientists have named a new dinosaur from a fossil in a museum drawer. The fossil was found on the Isle of Wight, an island in the south of England. The Natural History Museum in London got it in 1924.

2The fossil is a small piece of the dinosaur's skull. For many years, nobody knew it was special. Then a team led by researchers at University College London studied it. They named the dinosaur Invictibellatrix amberina.

3The dinosaur lived about 120 million years ago. It walked on two legs and ate meat. It was about as big as a large tiger. It probably had feathers, and each claw may have been 10 to 20 centimeters long.

4It belongs to a group of dinosaurs called megaraptorans. It is the first one from Europe that scientists know of. The lead scientist said it would have been more dangerous to humans than T. rex. He said a T. rex would probably ignore people because we are too small.

The fossil was found on the Isle of Wight.
