Secret Words in Job Applications
1Some job seekers hide secret messages in their resumes. Researchers in the United States found them in about 1 percent of the resumes they checked. The messages are written for AI, not for people.
2Many companies now use AI tools to read resumes. The AI helps decide which people to look at more closely.
3Some people write the secret words in white on a white page. Others use very tiny letters. Humans cannot see the words, but the AI can read them.
4Most of the hidden messages were long lists of skills. A few told the AI to say the person was perfect for the job. The researchers studied nearly 200,000 resumes. They said the number of these resumes has grown in the last two years.
