1A'ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces has been named the WNBA's Most Valuable Player for a record fifth time. She also became the first player in the league's 30-year history to win the award in three straight seasons. Wilson was previously named MVP in 2020, 2022, 2024 and 2025.

2The result was not close. Wilson received 65 of 74 first-place votes from a panel of sportswriters and broadcasters, giving her 713 points. Minnesota Lynx rookie Olivia Miles finished second with 442 points, and Indiana's Kelsey Mitchell came third.

3Wilson averaged 26.2 points, 9.4 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game in 41 games, leading the league in both scoring and blocks. Her scoring average was the second highest in WNBA history, behind only the 26.9 points she averaged in 2024. She also topped the league in efficiency rating, a number that measures a player's overall contribution, at 30.4. Her career average of 22.1 points is the best the league has ever seen.

4Before Wilson, no player had won the award more than three times. Sheryl Swoopes, Lisa Leslie and Lauren Jackson each won it three times, while Cynthia Cooper was the only other player to win it in back-to-back seasons.

5Wilson's season is not over yet. The Aces, who finished the regular season 31-13, were trailing the Golden State Valkyries 2-0 in the semifinals when the award was announced. Along with the trophy, Wilson will receive 60,000 dollars.
