Self-Driving Taxis Come to London

1More self-driving taxis are coming to London. On October 8, Uber and a Chinese company, Pony.ai, announced a plan for robotaxis there. They will start testing the cars in the coming weeks.

2Some self-driving cars already carry people in London. Uber and a London company called Wayve started rides on September 2. It was the first time people in the UK could ride in them.

3These cars still have a trained driver inside. The driver watches over each trip. Riders pay the same price as a normal ride.

4Riders can also say no to a self-driving car. Then they can choose a car with a human driver instead. More than 140,000 people in London have signed up for the rides.

More than 140,000 people in London have signed up for the rides.
