1Japanese students did very well in a big international test. The test is called PISA. Fifteen-year-olds around the world take it every three years.

2The results came out on September 8. Japan was number one among the 38 member countries of the OECD. It was first in reading, math, and science. This is the first time since the test began in 2000.

3More than 760,000 students took the test in 2025. In Japan, first-year high school students took it. The test checks if students can use what they learn in real life.

4However, average scores in OECD countries have gone down. Japanese students also use AI for studying less often than students in most other OECD countries.
