Switch 2 Sales Reach 23.68 Million in First Year

1Nintendo said on August 6, 2026, that it had sold 23.68 million Nintendo Switch 2 consoles worldwide. The figure covers sales through June 30, about 13 months after the console's launch. Sales of Switch 2 software reached 58.17 million units over the same period.

2The Switch 2 went on sale on June 5, 2025. Nintendo sold more than 3.5 million units in the first four days, making it the fastest-selling Nintendo system ever. Mario Kart World was released alongside the console.

3At launch, Nintendo set a goal of 15 million units for its first business year, which ended in March 2026. The console beat that goal, selling 19.86 million units in that year. For the current business year, which ends in March 2027, Nintendo has kept its forecast of 16.5 million units. That would be about 17 percent lower than last year's total.

4Sales have slowed since the launch rush. From April to June 2026, Nintendo sold 3.82 million Switch 2 units. That was 34 percent fewer than the 5.82 million it sold a year earlier. It was still higher than the 2.49 million sold from January to March. Nintendo said sales stayed solid even after it raised the price in Japan.

5Nintendo also said the Switch 2 is being adopted faster than the original Switch was at the same stage. The original Switch, released in 2017, has sold 156.59 million units.
