A Robot Runs Faster Than Humans
1A humanoid robot ran a half marathon in Beijing, China, on April 19, 2026. It finished the race in 50 minutes and 26 seconds. That was faster than the human world record.
2A half marathon is about 21 kilometers long. The world record for human runners is about 57 minutes. So the robot beat the best human time by several minutes.
3This race was held for the first time in 2025. That year, the winning robot needed 2 hours and 40 minutes. This year, the winner was about three times faster. It was designed like a top runner, with legs about 95 centimeters long.
4Some robots had problems in the race. One robot fell down at the start line. Another robot hit a barrier.
5Only about 40 percent of the robots ran by themselves. People used remote controls to move the other robots. The winning robot ran by itself, without a remote control.

That was faster than the human world record.
