Pokémon Reveals Its 10th Generation on Its 30th Anniversary
1The Pokémon Company revealed Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves, the 10th generation of its main game series, on February 27, 2026. Both games will be released in 2027 on the Nintendo Switch 2. Game Freak, the studio behind the main series, is developing them.
2The news came during a Pokémon Presents online broadcast held on Pokémon Day. The date marks the release of the first Pokémon games in Japan on February 27, 1996. The show was the final part of a 30th anniversary showcase that also featured news about other Pokémon games.
3The first trailer showed a new region that has not been named yet. It featured beaches, caves and underwater scenes, and many water Pokémon appeared on screen. The British gaming site Video Games Chronicle said the trailer suggests that exploring the sea may play a bigger part in the new games.
4As in every new generation, players will pick one of three first partner Pokémon. This time, the choices are a Grass-type chick, a Fire-type puppy and a Water-type gecko. The player character's outfit will change depending on which version is played. The games will also be the first in the series to offer Brazilian Portuguese as a language option.
5The broadcast included other news as well. The company gave release dates for the battle game Pokémon Champions and for a new release of the older game Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness. The previous main games, Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet, came out on the Nintendo Switch in 2022.

本文の depending on which version is played は「どちらのバージョンが遊ばれるかによって」という意味。
