The Hottest Day in Japan's History
1The temperature in Isesaki, Gunma, reached 41.8 degrees Celsius on August 5, 2025. That is the highest temperature ever recorded in Japan. It is about as hot as the water in a hot bath.
2Just a week before, a city in Hyogo set a record of 41.2 degrees. Isesaki broke that record very quickly. On the same day, 14 places in Japan were 40 degrees or hotter.
3Later, Japan's weather agency said the summer of 2025 was the hottest since 1898. That is when records began. The average temperature was much higher than usual.
4Heat like this can be dangerous for the body. Officials asked people to drink water and use air conditioning. They also asked people to stay inside during the day. Heatstroke alerts went out in almost every prefecture.

文法ポイント：最上級（the + ～est / the most ～）
本文の the highest temperature ever recorded in Japan や the hottest since 1898 がその例。
