1People who used AI to solve problems for about 10 minutes did worse on their own later. They also gave up more often.

2Researchers from universities in the United States and Britain did three tests with 1,222 people. The people joined online. Some of them could ask an AI chatbot for help, and the others could not.

3In one test, people did 12 math problems with fractions. Then everyone did three more problems without AI. The AI group got 57 percent right, but the other group got 73 percent right. The AI group also skipped more problems.

4But not all AI users did badly. People who mostly asked the AI for hints did about as well as people without AI. People who asked it for answers did worse.

全文訳

1AIを使って約10分問題を解いた人は、あとで自分だけで解くと成績が下がりました。あきらめることも多くなりました。

2アメリカとイギリスの大学の研究者たちが、1222人で3つの実験をしました。参加者はインターネットで参加しました。AIチャットボットに助けを求められる人と、求められない人に分けられました。

3ある実験では、分数の計算問題を12問解きました。そのあと全員が、AIなしでさらに3問解きました。AIを使ったグループの正答率は57％で、使わなかったグループは73％でした。AIを使ったグループは、問題を飛ばすことも多くなりました。

4でも、AIを使った人がみんな悪かったわけではありません。AIに主にヒントを聞いた人は、AIを使わなかった人とほぼ同じくらいできました。答えを聞いた人は、成績が下がりました。

文法ポイント：比較 as ～ as（…と同じくらい～）

as + 形容詞・副詞 + as … で「…と同じくらい～」。本文の People who mostly asked the AI for hints did about as well as people without AI. は「ヒントを聞いた人は、AIなしの人とほぼ同じくらいよくできた」。about（ほぼ）をつけると「だいたい同じ」。
