Vibe Coding Wins Word of the Year
1Collins Dictionary has picked vibe coding as its Word of the Year for 2025. Vibe coding means making computer programs by talking to AI in everyday words. You do not need to write the code yourself.
2For example, you can type a request for a simple game with a jumping cat. Then the AI writes the code for you.
3The phrase is very new. An AI expert named Andrej Karpathy first used it in February 2025. After that, people used it more and more.
4Other words on the list included coolcation and clanker. A coolcation is a holiday in a place with cool weather. Clanker is an unkind word for robots and AI.
5Collins announced its choice on November 6. Last year, the Word of the Year was brat.

1コリンズ辞典が、2025年の「今年の単語」に vibe coding を選びました。vibe coding とは、ふだんの言葉でAIに話しかけてコンピューターのプログラムを作ることです。自分でコードを書く必要はありません。
2たとえば「ジャンプするネコの簡単なゲーム」と頼む文を打ちこみます。すると、AIがかわりにコードを書いてくれます。
3この言葉はとても新しいものです。アンドレイ・カルパシーというAIの専門家が、2025年2月に初めて使いました。そのあと、使う人がどんどん増えました。
4候補のリストには、coolcation や clanker という言葉もありました。coolcation は、すずしい場所で過ごす休暇のことです。clanker は、ロボットやAIを悪く言うときの言葉です。
