what's the matter（ワッツザマター）とは、「どうしたの？」という意味の英語スラング。
相手が困っていそう、落ち込んでいそうなときの「どうしたの？」。matter を「物質」と覚えていると意味が取れない。What's wrong? と同じだが、What's the matter with you? と with you をつけると「お前どうかしてるぞ」と責める響きになる。
