入試の言い換え

• however しかしながら — 副詞。2文に分けて使う（A. However, B.）。フォーマルな英作文向き
• yet けれども — but と同じく A, yet B と接続詞として使える。意外性が強い
• although 〜だけれども — A, but B ⇔ Although A, B と節の組み立てが変わる
• though 〜だけれども — 文末の though（..., though.）は会話での but の代わり
• still それでも — 副詞。but still とセットでも使う

not A but B の but は逆接ではなく『訂正』。nothing but（〜だけ）、all but（ほとんど）、but for（〜がなければ）など、but には『〜を除いて』の意味が隠れていて語法問題で頻出。
