入試の言い換え

• but しかし — 接続詞。中立的で意外性は弱い
• and yet それなのに — yet の意外性をさらに強調
• however しかしながら — 副詞。yet と違い、カンマで節をつなげない
• nevertheless それにもかかわらず — 副詞。硬い書き言葉
• still それでも — 副詞。文頭 Still, で同様の機能

接続詞の yet は but より『意外にも』の響きが強く、simple yet powerful（シンプルなのに強力）のような広告コピーの対句で好まれる。英作文で but の代わりに使うと表現に幅が出る。
