That was my first reaction too. But the idea isn't to work longer days. It's to cut out the things that waste time — pointless meetings, endless emails, that kind of thing. わたしも最初はそう思った。でも、一日を長く働くっていう考えじゃないの。時間をむだにすることを削るのよ。意味のない会議とか、終わらないメールとか。

Some will, for sure. But burnout has a cost too — people quitting, taking sick leave, making mistakes because they're exhausted. Companies pay for that as well; they just don't see it on one line of the budget. 断るところもあるでしょうね。でも燃え尽きにもコストがあるのよ。辞める人、病欠する人、疲れてミスをする人。会社はそれにもお金を払っているの。予算の一つの項目として見えないだけで。
