You must try chicken rice. It's one of our most famous dishes. チキンライスは絶対食べて。いちばん有名な料理の一つなの。

It looks simple, but it's so good. The rice is cooked in chicken stock, so it's full of flavour. 見た目はシンプルだけど、すごくおいしいよ。ご飯を鶏のスープで炊くから、味がしっかりしてるの。

Wei Ling
At a hawker centre. That's a big open-air food court with lots of small stalls. ホーカーセンターだよ。小さな屋台がたくさん集まった、大きな屋外のフードコートのこと。

Is it expensive? 高いの？
Wei Ling
No, it's quite cheap. And you can try lots of different dishes in one place. ううん、けっこう安いよ。それに一か所でいろんな料理を試せるの。

Brilliant. Can you take me there? 最高だね。連れて行ってくれる？

Can! Let's go on Saturday morning. It's not so crowded then. いいよ！土曜の朝に行こう。その時間ならそんなに混んでないから。

"Can"? Is that a yes? 「キャン」？それって「いいよ」ってこと？

Yes lah. In Singapore, we often just say "can". そうだよ。シンガポールでは「キャン」だけで返事することが多いの。
