Japan’s Constitution Memorial Day forms part of Golden Week and is designated as a day for “commemorating the enforcement of the Japanese Constitution and hoping for the growth of the nation.” While English-speaking countries have holidays such as “Constitution Day” or “Independence Day” to celebrate their constitutions or independence, it is uncommon for countries to celebrate the “enforcement date” as Japan does.
