長文読解(大問3形式)
目安 4分The Spread of Fake News
Social media allows information to travel around the world in seconds. However, this speed also has a negative side. In 2018, researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology studied millions of posts on Twitter and found that false stories spread much faster and further than true ones. In fact, true stories took about six times as long as false ones to reach 1,500 people.
The researchers believe that one reason is that fake news is often surprising or emotional. When people read something shocking, they feel a strong desire to pass it on to their friends before checking whether it is true. Interestingly, the study also found that automated accounts called bots were not mainly responsible for the problem. Instead, ordinary human users were the ones spreading most of the false information. Other studies have shown that many users share articles after reading only the headline.
To deal with this problem, some platforms now show warning labels on posts that contain doubtful information, and others ask users whether they want to read an article before sharing it. However, experts say that technology alone cannot solve the problem. They argue that schools should teach students how to check the source of information and compare it with other reports before believing what they read online. Such skills may become even more important as fake images made by AI become more common.
リスニング(Part1 会話形式)
目安 2分W Hi, Kevin. You look sleepy. Were you up late last night?
M Yeah. I was watching short videos on my phone until three in the morning. I just couldn't stop.
W I used to have the same problem. Now I set a time limit on my apps. After thirty minutes, my phone locks them.
M That sounds useful. But wouldn't you just turn the limit off?
W Sometimes I want to, so I also leave my phone in the living room when I go to bed.
M Maybe I'll try that tonight.

Yes. I think many people check social media too often. They sometimes look at their smartphones even while they are eating or talking with friends. This can hurt their relationships and reduce their time for studying.
