ライティングは2題だけで1技能分のCSE(2級650点・準1級750点)を持つ最重要パート。

段落・つなぎ言葉(First/However/Therefore)で論理がわかるか。

  9. 短縮形(can't/it's)は避け、can not → cannot、it is と書くとフォーマル。

I think that [立場]. I have two reasons.
First, [理由1]. For example, [具体例].
Second, [
For these reasons, I think that [立場を言い換え].
  • 1文目でTOPICの言葉を使って立場を明言(agree/disagree、Yes/No)。
  • 理由はPOINTS(例:Cost/Health/Environment)から2つ選ぶと速い。

  4. 本文の語を品詞転換・類義語で言い換える(because it is cheap → due to its low cost)。
These days, [話題]. This is because [利点]. However, [欠点].

1 Some people say that companies should stop using plastic packaging for their products. Do you agree with this opinion?

POINTS:Environment / Cost / Consumers

I agree that companies should stop using plastic packaging for their products. First, it would help protect the environment. A large amount of plastic waste ends up in the ocean every year, and it harms sea animals. If companies used paper or other natural materials instead, this problem would become smaller. Second, it would change the way consumers think. When people see products without plastic, they will become more interested in environmental issues and try to reduce waste in their daily lives. For these two reasons, I think companies should stop using plastic packaging.

  • end up in ~ 最終的に~に行き着く
2 Do you think that more people will use AI assistants at work in the future?

POINTS:Efficiency / Cost / Jobs

I think that more people will use AI assistants at work in the future. First, AI can greatly improve efficiency. For example, it can write reports and answer simple questions from customers in just a few seconds. This allows workers to spend more time on important tasks that only humans can do. Second, AI technology is becoming cheaper and easier to use. Even small companies will be able to introduce AI tools without spending much money. Therefore, I believe that AI assistants will become common in many workplaces.

3 Some people say that high schools should allow students to use smartphones in class. Do you agree with this opinion?

POINTS:Learning / Concentration / Tests

I do not think that high schools should allow students to use smartphones in class. First, smartphones make it difficult for students to concentrate. Many students may check social media or play games instead of listening to their teachers. As a result, they will not learn as much as they should. Second, smartphones could cause problems such as cheating on tests. Students can easily search for answers online, so teachers will not be able to check their true abilities. For these reasons, I believe smartphones should not be used in class.

  • make it difficult for A to do Aが~するのを難しくする
  • as a result その結果
  • cheat on a test
4 Do you think that the government should do more to encourage people to exercise?

POINTS:Medical costs / Facilities / Personal choice

I think that the government should do more to encourage people to exercise. First, it would reduce medical costs. People who exercise regularly are less likely to get sick, so the country would not have to spend as much money on hospitals and medicine. Second, many people do not have a good place to exercise near their homes. If the government built more parks and sports facilities, it would be easier for people to stay active. For these two reasons, I believe the government should take more action.

  • encourage A to do Aに~するよう促す
  • be less likely to do ~する可能性が低い

POINTS:Productivity / Stress / Customer service

I agree that more companies should allow their employees to work only four days a week. First, it would reduce stress. Workers would have more time to rest and spend with their families, so they would feel healthier and happier. Second, it could improve productivity. When employees know that they have only four days, they try to finish their work more efficiently. In fact, some companies that have tried this system report good results. Therefore, I think the four-day work week is a good idea.

  • in fact 実際に
予想6 Do you think that Japan should limit the number of foreign tourists who visit popular places?

POINTS:Economy / Local residents / Environment

I do not think that Japan should limit the number of foreign tourists who visit popular places. First, tourism is important for the economy. Foreign visitors spend a lot of money at hotels, restaurants, and shops, and this creates jobs for local people. Second, there are other ways to solve the problems caused by too many tourists. For example, local governments can introduce entrance fees or encourage tourists to visit less crowded areas. For these reasons, I believe Japan should continue to welcome foreign tourists without strict limits.

7 Some people say that local communities in Japan are becoming weaker. Do you agree with this opinion?

POINTS:Lifestyle / Technology / Local events

I agree that local communities in Japan are becoming weaker. First, people's lifestyles have changed. Many people work long hours or live alone, so they do not have time to talk with their neighbors. Second, because of technology, people can communicate with friends online and buy things without going out. As a result, they have fewer chances to meet people in their own neighborhood. For these reasons, I think communities are weaker than before, and we need to find new ways to connect with each other.

  • have fewer chances to do ~する機会が少ない
  • connect with each other 互いにつながる
予想8 Do you think that people should buy more second-hand goods?

POINTS:Environment / Money / Quality

I think that people should buy more second-hand goods. First, it is good for the environment. When people reuse clothes and furniture, fewer new products need to be made, and less waste is thrown away. Second, people can save money. Second-hand items are usually much cheaper than new ones, but many of them are still in good condition. Thanks to online shopping apps, it has also become easier to find such items. For these reasons, I believe that buying second-hand goods is a smart choice.

  • in good condition 状態が良い
9 Some people say that social media does more harm than good for young people. Do you agree with this opinion?

POINTS:Mental health / Information / Communication

I agree that social media does more harm than good for young people. First, it can have a bad effect on their mental health. Young people often compare themselves with others online and feel that their own lives are not good enough. Second, there is a lot of false information on social media. Young people may believe it without checking whether it is true, and this can lead to serious mistakes. For these reasons, I think young people should be careful about using social media.

I think that more elderly people should continue working after the age of 65. First, Japan is facing a serious labor shortage. If elderly people keep working, companies can get the workers they need. Second, working is good for elderly people's health. By going to work, they can stay physically active and keep their minds sharp. They can also use their experience to teach younger workers. For these reasons, I believe that elderly people who want to work should be encouraged to do so.

1 Plant-Based Meat

These days, many supermarkets in Japan sell meat substitutes made from plants such as soybeans. These products look and taste similar to beef or chicken, but they do not contain any animal products. Some restaurants have also started to offer hamburgers made with plant-based meat.

Why are these foods becoming popular? One reason is that people are becoming more interested in their health. Plant-based meat usually contains less fat than regular meat. Moreover, raising cows and other animals requires large amounts of water and land and produces greenhouse gases. By choosing plant-based products, consumers feel that they can help to protect the environment.

However, there are also some concerns. Plant-based meat is often more expensive than regular meat because the process of making it is complicated. In addition, some people say that these products contain many artificial ingredients to improve their taste. As a result, some consumers are not sure whether plant-based meat is really healthy.

Plant-based meat products are becoming popular in Japan. They attract consumers because they are healthier than regular meat and are better for the environment. However, they are often expensive because they are difficult to produce, and some people doubt that they are healthy because they contain artificial ingredients.

2 Workations

Recently, an increasing number of companies have been allowing their employees to work from tourist areas. This style of working is known as a "workation," a combination of the words "work" and "vacation." Workers bring their computers to places such as hot spring towns or beaches and do their jobs there while enjoying their free time.

Workations have some benefits. Employees can relax in beautiful surroundings, so they often feel less stressed and come up with new ideas. Local areas can also benefit. When workers stay for a long time, they spend money at local hotels and restaurants, even on weekdays when there are usually few tourists.

On the other hand, workations have some problems. Some workers find it difficult to separate their work from their free time, so they end up working longer hours. In addition, managers may have trouble checking how their employees are doing because they cannot see them in person.

More companies are letting their workers do their jobs in tourist areas. This helps workers reduce stress and think of new ideas, and it also brings money to local areas. However, workers may end up working too much, and it is hard for managers to supervise employees they cannot see.

3 Online Classes at Universities

In the past, university students had to go to campus to attend all of their classes. Nowadays, however, many universities offer online classes. Students can watch recorded lectures on their computers or smartphones and join discussions through video calls.

There are several advantages to online classes. Students do not have to spend time and money traveling to campus, so they can use that time for studying or part-time jobs. Furthermore, they can watch recorded lectures as many times as they like, which helps them understand difficult topics. This is especially useful for students who study in a foreign language.

However, online classes also have disadvantages. Some students find it hard to stay motivated when they study alone at home. They may put off watching lectures until just before exams. Moreover, students have fewer chances to make friends and exchange ideas with their classmates, which is an important part of university life.

Instead of requiring students to come to campus, many universities now offer online classes. They save students time and money on traveling, and students can watch lectures repeatedly to understand them better. However, some students lose motivation when studying alone, and they have fewer opportunities to build relationships with classmates.

「as many times as they like」→「repeatedly」と短く言い換える。
4 Self-Checkout Machines

Many supermarkets and convenience stores have introduced self-checkout machines. At these machines, customers scan the items they want to buy and pay for them by themselves without the help of a staff member. This system is also spreading to other kinds of stores, such as clothing shops and bookstores.

Stores have good reasons for introducing these machines. Because of a shortage of workers, many stores have difficulty hiring enough cashiers. With self-checkout machines, fewer staff members are needed, so stores can reduce their labor costs. Customers can also benefit because the lines at the checkout become shorter, especially during busy times.

However, self-checkout machines cause some problems. Some customers, especially elderly people, are not used to operating such machines and feel confused. They often need to ask staff members for help, which can take a long time. In addition, some stores have reported that customers sometimes forget to scan items, and this leads to losses for the stores.

Self-checkout machines are spreading in various kinds of stores. They help stores deal with the lack of workers and cut costs, and they reduce waiting time for customers. However, some people find the machines difficult to use and need assistance, and stores may lose money when items are not scanned.

②「a shortage of workers」→「the lack of workers」、「reduce their labor costs」→「cut costs」、「列が短くなる」→「待ち時間が減る」と言い換える。
5 Community Gardens

In some cities, residents have started to create community gardens on empty land. In these gardens, people living in the same neighborhood grow vegetables and flowers together. Some local governments support these activities by lending land and providing tools.

Community gardens have several advantages. Working in a garden gives people a chance to get to know their neighbors. People of different ages, from small children to elderly people, can talk and work together. Moreover, residents can enjoy fresh vegetables that they have grown themselves, and green spaces make the city more beautiful.

However, running a community garden is not always easy. Gardens need regular care, such as watering plants and removing weeds, and sometimes only a few members end up doing most of the work. Also, some people living near the gardens complain about insects and bad smells from fertilizer. For these reasons, some community gardens have closed after only a few years.

Community gardens where neighbors grow plants together are appearing in some cities. They help people of all ages build relationships, provide fresh food, and make cities greener. However, the work is sometimes done by only a few members, and nearby residents may complain, so some gardens have had to close.

②「小さな子どもから高齢者まで」→「people of all ages」、「近所の人と知り合う」→「build relationships」と抽象化。
6 Smartwatches for Elderly People

Recently, more elderly people have begun to wear smartwatches. These devices can measure things such as a person's heart rate and the number of steps the person takes each day. Some smartwatches can even detect when the wearer falls down and automatically contact family members.

These devices are helpful in several ways. Elderly people who live alone can feel safer because their families will be informed quickly if something happens. In addition, the data collected by smartwatches can be shared with doctors. This allows doctors to notice health problems early and give advice before the problems become serious.

On the other hand, there are some concerns about these devices. Smartwatches can be difficult for some elderly people to use, and they must be charged regularly. If users forget to charge them, the devices will not work when they are needed. Furthermore, some people worry that personal health information could be stolen or used without permission.

More elderly people are using smartwatches that check their health. These devices give elderly people living alone a sense of security and help doctors find health problems early. However, they can be hard to operate and need regular charging, and some people fear that their private data may be misused.

③「stolen or used without permission」→「misused」と一語で言い換える。
