前置詞チートシート（at・on・in、by・until、for・during…）｜一覧・無料PDF（A4・2枚）

まずはこの3つ

時も場所も、点（at）→ 接触（on）→ 範囲の中（in）で決まる

前置詞は「イメージ」で覚える

at＝点、on＝くっついている、in＝囲まれた中。時間もこの延長で、時刻は「点」なので at、日付はカレンダーのマスに「乗る」ので on、月・年は「幅の中」なので in。大きさ（点→面→空間）で at→on→in と広がると覚える。

前置詞	使う所	例
at	時刻・時点	at seven / at noon / at night / at the end of May
on	日付・曜日・特定の日の朝夕	on Monday / on May 5 / on the morning of May 5
in	月・年・季節・世紀・朝夕	in May / in 2030 / in winter / in the morning
なし	this・next・last・every・tomorrow の前	next Friday（✕ on next Friday）

1at＝地点（点）
地図上の1点として見る時。at the station・at the bus stop・at the door・at home。
2on＝接触（面）
表面にくっついていれば、横でも下でも on：a picture on the wall・a fly on the ceiling。乗り物は on the bus / train（乗客として乗る）。
There's a fly on the ceiling.天井にハエが止まっている。
3in＝囲まれた中（空間）
in the room・in Tokyo・in the car・in the world・in the picture（写真の中に）。
Who is the man in this photo?この写真の男性は誰？
4同じ駅でも at か in か
乗り換え地点としての駅＝at the station。建物の中にいることを強調＝in the station。話し手の見方で決まる。
5on と in の乗り物
公共・大型の乗り物（bus・train・plane・ship）とまたがる bike は on、乗り込んで座る乗用車・タクシーは in。乗り降りも get on / off ↔ get in / out of。

1by と until
by＝〜までに（その時までに完了・実現する）。until (till)＝〜までずっと（その時まで続く）。「〜までに」なら by。
Hand in the report by Friday.金曜までにレポートを出しなさい。
I'll wait here until five.5時までここで待つ。
2for と during
for＋期間の長さ（for three days）。during＋特定の期間（during the summer vacation）。during は「いつ」、for は「どれだけ」に答える。
✕during three days → for three days
3in と after と within
in an hour＝（今から）1時間後に・1時間で。after an hour＝1時間たってから（過去の文で多い。今から〜後は in）。within an hour＝1時間以内に。
The train will leave in ten minutes.電車は10分後に出る。
4since と from
since＝〜以来ずっと（完了形と）。from＝〜から（起点だけ。from A to B の形が多い）。
I have lived here since 2020.2020年からずっとここに住んでいる。
5through と throughout
through＝〜を通して・〜の間ずっと（米：Monday through Friday＝月〜金曜まで）。throughout＝〜中ずっと・すみずみまで。

1between と among
between＝2つの間（個々を区別できるなら3つ以上でも可）。among＝3つ以上の集団の中。
She is popular among her classmates.彼女はクラスメートの間で人気がある。
2over / above、under / below
over・under＝真上・真下や覆う感じ。above・below＝基準より上・下（離れていることが多い）。above sea level・below zero。
3across・along・through
across＝横切って（平面）、along＝〜に沿って、through＝中を通り抜けて（立体）。walk across the street / along the river / through the forest。
4差の by
比較の「差」は by：He is older than me by two years.（＝two years older）。win by two points（2点差で勝つ）。
We lost the game by one goal.1点差で試合に負けた。
5速度・価格・割合の at
at a speed of 60 km/h・at a low price・at full speed。値段も速さも「目盛りの1点」と考える。
6着用の in
「〜を着て」：a girl in a red dress・a man in glasses。服に「包まれている」イメージ。
7賛成の for、反対の against
Are you for or against the plan?（その案に賛成か反対か）。for は「向かう」、against は「ぶつかる」。
8目的地の for と to
leave for Tokyo（東京へ向けて出発する）・head for。to は到達点：go to Tokyo。
✕leave to Tokyo → leave for Tokyo

期限（〜までに）は by

期間の長さは for

特定の日の朝・夜は on

○Please write your name with a pen [in pen].
道具は with。インクの種類なら in
✕She got off the taxi.
○She got out of the taxi.
乗用車・タクシーは get in / out of
✕He has been sick from last week.

完了形で「〜以来」は since
