折り紙「カニ」の折り方How to make an origami Crabかに（チャレンジ）Crab (Challenge)

8本のあしと、2つのはさみ。6まいの紙をいっしょに折って組み立てる、チャレンジ版のカニです。Eight legs and two claws! This challenge version of the crab is built from six sheets that you fold side by side.

折り方How to fold

こうら（小さい紙）：よこ半分に折って、折りすじをつける
Shell (the small sheet): fold it in half from top to bottom and unfold.
上と下のふちを、まん中の線に合わせて折る
Fold the top and bottom edges to the center line.
4つのかどを、三角に折る（下のかどは大きめに）
Fold the four corners in as triangles. Make the bottom ones bigger.
うらがえす
Turn it over.
あし（4まい）とはさみ（1まい）：5まいとも、三角に折る
Legs (4 sheets) and claws (1 sheet): do the same with all five sheets. Fold in half to make a triangle.
さらに半分の三角に折る
Fold in half again.
袋を開いて、四角につぶす
Open the pocket and squash it into a square.
うらがえして、こちらも四角につぶす（正方基本形）
Turn over and squash this side into a square too. This is the preliminary base.
下のふちを、まん中の線に合わせて折りすじをつける
Fold the lower edges to the center line and unfold.
上の三角を折って、折りすじをつける
Fold the top down and unfold.
1まいめを下から持ち上げて、ふちを折りすじで内側へ（花弁折り）
Lift the bottom corner of the top layer and fold the sides in along the creases (petal fold).
上の折りすじが「ちょうつがい」。左右のふちがまん中でぴたりと合うように、ゆっくり持ち上げます。
うらがえして、下のふちをまん中に合わせて折りすじをつける
Turn over. Fold the lower edges to the center line and unfold.
こちらも花弁折り（鶴の基本形）
Petal fold this side too. This is the bird base.
あし：下の2本のふちを、まん中の線に合わせて折る（4まいとも）
Legs: fold the lower edges of the two bottom points to the center line (on all four).
うらがえして、こちらも同じように細くする
Turn them over and narrow this side the same way.
5まいとも、上下の向きをかえる（2本の先が上）
Turn all five pieces upside down so the two points are at the top.
あし：4まいとも、2本の先を中わり折りで左右に開く（開く角度を少しずつかえる）
Legs: inside reverse fold the two points of each piece out to the sides. Open each piece a little differently.
1まいめはななめ上、2まいめはよこ、3まいめと4まいめはもっと下向きに開きます。
はさみ：太い2本を、中わり折りでななめに開く（うで）
Claws: inside reverse fold the two wide points out at a slant. These are the arms.
8本のあしの先を、中わり折りで曲げる（ひざ）
Inside reverse fold the ends of all eight legs to make the knees.
はさみ：うでの先を、中わり折りで内がわへ曲げる（ひじ）
Claws: inside reverse fold the ends of the arms inward to make the elbows.
はさみの先を、もう一度内がわへ曲げる
Bend the tips of the claws inward once more.
5まいとも、下の長い先をうしろへ折る
On all five pieces, fold the long bottom point behind.
こうらの下からはみ出さないようにするためです。
はさみを、こうらの下に入れる
Put the claws under the shell.
前の2まいのあしを、こうらの下に入れる
Put the first two leg pieces under the shell.
うしろの2まいのあしは上下さかさにして、こうらの下に入れる
Turn the last two leg pieces upside down and put them under the shell.
できあがり！こうらに目をかいたら、カニのできあがり！あしの先を下に曲げると、テーブルの上に立たせられます。
Finished! Draw the eyes on the shell, and your crab is finished! Bend the tips of the legs down so it can stand on the table.

カニのあしは、はさみを入れて10本です。体のつくりのせいで、多くのカニは横に歩くのがとくいです。

A crab has ten legs if you count the two claws. Because of the way their legs bend, most crabs are best at walking sideways.
