The Young Crab and His Mother

"Why in the world do you walk sideways like that?" said a Mother Crab to her son.「どうしてそんなふうに、よこ歩きをするの？」とお母さんガニがむすこに言いました。 "You should always walk straight forward with your toes turned out."「いつも、つま先を外にむけて、まっすぐ前に歩きなさい。」

"Show me how to walk, mother dear," answered the little Crab obediently, "I want to learn."「歩き方を見せてよ、お母さん」と小さなカニはすなおに答えました。「ならいたいんだ。」

So the old Crab tried and tried to walk straight forward.そこでお母さんガニは、まっすぐ前に歩こうと、何どもやってみました。 But she could walk sideways only, like her son.でも、むすこと同じように、よこにしか歩けません。 And when she wanted to turn her toes out she tripped and fell on her nose.そして、つま先を外にむけようとしたら、つまずいて、鼻からころんでしまいました。

Do not tell others how to act unless you can set a good example.自分がよいお手本を見せられないのに、人にああしなさいと言ってはいけません。
