How to make an origami 8-Unit Modular Starユニットのほし(8まい)8-Unit Modular Star
A big eight-pointed star made from eight identical units that slide into each other’s pockets. With two colors in turn, a white pinwheel pattern appears in the middle. This is the challenge version of the star.

How to fold
-
For all 8 sheets: start with the white side up and fold in half diagonally.
Fold the upper left edge to the center line.
-
Fold the upper right edge to the center line, too. This is a kite shape.
-
Do the same with the right flap.
-
Fold the bottom corner up a little.
-
Place the first unit in the middle with its point up.
-
Gently shape each of the eight points into a ridge along its center line to make the star 3D.
-
Finished! Shape the eight points, and your modular star is finished! Turn it over to see a clean pinwheel pattern on the back.
Fun fact
Origami built from many identical folded pieces (units) is called modular or unit origami. The units hold together just by sliding into each other’s pockets — no glue needed.
