1One day, a woman was speaking at a meeting of her town's summer festival committee. She suggested holding a drone light show instead of fireworks. She explained that it would be safer and better for the environment. 2A few weeks later, the woman watched a test flight with some engineers. Dozens of drones flew in perfect order and formed beautiful shapes in the sky. She was looking forward to the festival more than ever. 3On the night of the festival, the event site was full of visitors in summer kimonos. Many children were looking up at the sky, waiting excitedly for the show to begin. 4An hour later, however, a strong wind began to blow, and the show had to be canceled for safety reasons. The visitors went home disappointed, and a little boy was crying because he had wanted to see the show. The woman also looked very discouraged.

No.1Please look at the fourth picture. If you were the woman, what would you be thinking?

反省型

I'd be thinking, "I should have checked the weather forecast more carefully and prepared a backup plan. Everyone was looking forward to the show, so I feel terrible."

I'd be thinking, "We can't control the weather, but we can hold the show on another night. I'll announce a new date right away so that everyone can come back."

No.2〜No.4(カードを裏返して)

No.2Do you think drone shows will replace fireworks in the future?

No, I don't think so. Drone shows are impressive, but fireworks have a long history in Japan and are an important part of summer. For example, many people love the powerful sound of fireworks exploding in the sky, which drones cannot provide. I think both will be used, but fireworks will remain a popular tradition.

No.3Should people be allowed to fly drones freely in cities?

No, I don't think so. Drones can fall and hurt people if the pilot makes a mistake or the battery runs out. They can also be used to take photos of people's homes without permission. For example, flying a drone over a crowded festival could be very dangerous. Clear rules and licenses are necessary to keep everyone safe.

No.4These days, many people enjoy movies, music and sports at home through streaming services. Do you think live events will become less popular in the future?

No, I don't think so. Watching something on a screen at home is convenient, but it cannot replace the excitement of being there in person. For example, at a concert or a soccer game, people can share strong emotions with thousands of other fans. In fact, tickets for many concerts sell out quickly, which shows that people still value real experiences.
