Thank you. I'd like to talk about whether ~.
Should the WTO ~? / Should ~ be banned entirely?
cost / safety / fairness
for individuals / for businesses / for society
I don't think it should be banned completely, but it should be strictly limited.
In this speech, I will focus on education in rural areas.
By 'success,' I mean being able to support yourself.
Let me look at this from the perspective of a nurse.
Can you give another example?
出典:Baddeley & Hitch(1974)ワーキングメモリ/Cowan(2001)短期記憶の容量
|---|---|---|
| Should ~? | 誰が何をすべきか | I believe they should. |
| Agree or disagree | 文に賛成か | I agree with this. |
| Is ~? | 評価語が当てはまるか | Yes, I believe it is. |
| Can ~? | 可能か・条件は | It can, but only if ~. |
| To what extent | どこまでか(程度) | To a large extent. |
| ~ worth ~? | 費用に見合うか | It is worth it. |
| A or B? | どちらを優先か | I'd prioritize A. |
Thank you. I'd like to talk about whether 主語 should 動詞+目的語. I believe they should / they should not, for three reasons: K1, K2, and K3.
Thank you. I'd like to talk about the statement that トピックの文. I agree / disagree with this statement, for three reasons: K1, K2, and K3.
迷うなら I largely agree.
Thank you. I'd like to talk about whether A is 評価語. In my view, it is / is not 評価語, for three reasons: K1, K2, and K3.
Thank you. I'd like to talk about whether A can B. I believe it can, but only if 条件. Let me explain why, focusing on K1, K2, and K3.
No なら at least not in the near future など、時期で限定すると質疑で守りやすい。
Thank you. I'd like to talk about the extent to which 文. I believe this is true to a large extent / only to a limited extent. It applies to 当てはまる範囲, but not to 当てはまらない範囲.
Thank you. I'd like to talk about whether A is worth B. I believe it is / is not worth it, because the benefits / costs clearly outweigh the costs / benefits. Let me explain three reasons.
Thank you. I'd like to talk about whether A or B should come first. While both matter, I would prioritize A, for three reasons: K1, K2, and K3.
That does not mean [B] is unimportant.
NGBoth are important, so it depends.
OKBoth matter, but I would prioritize affordable housing, for three reasons.
NGYes, I think so.(To what extent
OKTo a large extent, yes, but not when it comes to workers' private lives.
NGI think it should be regulated more.(Should ~ be banned?
OKI don't think it should be banned outright, but stricter limits are needed.
NGIt has many merits, such as ...(Is ~ realistic?
OKYes, I believe it is realistic, because the technology already exists.
NGI choose number two. Green space.
OKI'd like to talk about whether cities should turn some car lanes into green spaces.
NGWell, there are good points and bad points about AI.
OKIn this speech, I will focus on AI in hospitals, and I believe it does more good than harm.
10–30s: Test two topics: K1, K2, K3? 30–50s: Pick a side, three keywords, three examples. 50–60s: Say the first sentence silently: I'd like to talk about whether トピック.
Topic: Should local governments tax houses that are left empty?
Side: Yes.
Keywords: safety / housing / communities.
Examples: a crumbling house near my parents' home / young families looking for cheap homes / quiet streets in my hometown.
First sentence: I'd like to talk about whether local governments should tax empty houses.
Topic: Agree or disagree: Elderly drivers should be required to retake a driving test regularly.
K1: for the drivers themselves (they find out early if their skills have changed)
K2: for families (less worry about a parent who still drives)
K3: for society (safer roads for children and cyclists)
K1: money / cost K2: people / daily life K3: the future / values
Topic: Is reviving overnight sleeper trains worth the cost?
K1: money (travelers save a night at a hotel)
K2: daily life (people arrive rested, ready to work or sightsee)
K3: the future (a lower-carbon option than short flights)
I'd like to talk about whether 主語 should 動詞+目的語. I believe they should / they shouldn't, for three reasons: K1, K2, and K3. (強い語があるとき) I believe they should, but only 範囲・条件.
I'd like to talk about whether local governments should tax houses that are left empty. I believe they should, for three reasons: safety, housing, and local communities.
Agree or disagree: ~ の形のトピックAgree or disagree の第1文
I'd like to talk about the statement that トピックの文. I agree / disagree with this statement, for three reasons: K1, K2, and K3.
I'd like to talk about the statement that elderly drivers should be required to retake a driving test regularly. I agree with this statement, for three reasons: the drivers' own safety, peace of mind for their families, and the safety of everyone else on the road.
★イチ押しIs ~ fair / effective / realistic / necessary? などIs ~?
I'd like to talk about whether A is 評価語. By '評価語', I mean 自分の定義. By that standard, I believe it is / is not, for three reasons: K1, K2, and K3.
I'd like to talk about whether it is fair to sell popular concert tickets only by lottery. By 'fair', I mean giving every fan the same chance, regardless of money or connections. By that standard, I believe it is fair, for three reasons: equal chances, fewer resellers, and happier fans.
Can ~?
I'd like to talk about whether A can B. I believe it / they can, but only if 条件. K1: why it's possible / K2: what is already working / K3: what still needs to change
I'd like to talk about whether small bookstores can survive in the age of online shopping. I believe they can, but only if they offer something online stores can't. My three points are people's love of browsing, the events some shops already hold, and the support they still need from local communities.
★イチ押しTo what extent ~?
I'd like to talk about the extent to which トピックの文. I believe this holds true / is acceptable to a large extent / only to a limited extent. It applies to / is justified for 当てはまる範囲, but not to / for 当てはまらない範囲. K1, K2: reasons for / K3: the limit
I'd like to talk about the extent to which companies should be allowed to monitor what employees do online at work. I believe this is acceptable only to a limited extent. It is justified for protecting customer data, but not for reading every message employees send.
Is ~ worth ~?
I'd like to talk about whether A is worth B / the cost. I believe it is / is not worth it, because the benefits / costs clearly outweigh the costs / benefits. K1–K3: three benefits / costs
I'd like to talk about whether reviving overnight sleeper trains is worth the cost. I believe it is worth it, because the benefits clearly outweigh the costs. Let me explain three of them: savings for travelers, better use of their time, and a greener way to travel.
A or B: which should ~?
I'd like to talk about whether A or B should come first. While both are important, I would prioritize A, for three reasons: K1, K2, and K3.
I'd like to talk about whether building new housing or preserving farmland near cities should come first. While both are important, I would prioritize preserving farmland, for three reasons: food security, protection from floods, and the character of local communities.
Is 〜 no longer 〜? I believe 〜 is no longer 〜 と文で立場を言おう。
I believe that printed newspapers are no longer necessary for most people.
Should Japan 〜?
Will 〜 in the future?
Is it ethical to 〜?
Should companies 〜? と Should the government 〜?
や To what extent 〜?
Is A more important than B?
I'd like to compare them in terms of long-term impact.
In other words, the question is whether it does more good than harm.

| 3 | Should patents on new medicines last for a shorter time? |
| 4 | Can museums stay relevant in the digital age? |
| 5 | Should central banks issue their own digital currencies? |

To what extent should universities be responsible for preparing students for work?
Position: To a large extent, but not completely.
Keywords: skills / connections / limits
Examples: presentations and teamwork / monthly talks by graduates / the economy and students' own effort
First line: Thank you. I'd like to talk about the extent to which universities should be responsible for preparing students for work. In my view, they should be responsible to a large extent, but not completely.
