Ⅰ 次の英文を読み、設問に答えよ(長文)

In many countries, the number of people who live alone has been rising for decades. This trend is often described as a sign of growing loneliness, but the reality is more complicated. Living alone is not the same as being lonely. Many people who live by themselves have active social lives; they choose to live alone because (1)it gives them freedom and quiet. On the other hand, some people who live with their families feel deeply isolated. (2)What seems to matter most is not how many people we live with, but whether we have someone we can turn to when we need help. For this reason, some researchers argue that efforts to reduce loneliness should focus less on the size of households and more on the quality of people's relationships.
