- 1I'll never forget the day our team won the final.
答えd The speaker remembers the day well.
lost the final(決勝で負けた)は won と逆。did not see the final(決勝を見なかった)は発話にない。
【覚える】I'll never forget 〜=〜をずっと覚えている。 - 2I can't wait to try the new ramen shop near the station.
答えb The speaker is looking forward to going to the shop.
解説can't wait to 〜 は「待ちきれない=楽しみだ」で is looking forward to と同じ。can't を「できない」と取ると can't go to the shop という逆の誤答になる。doesn't want to wait in line は wait の使い回し。
【覚える】can't wait to V=look forward to -ing(楽しみにしている)。 - 3I wish I had brought an umbrella today.
答えb The speaker didn't bring an umbrella.
I wish I had p.p.=〜すればよかった(実際はしなかった)。 - 4You don't have to print the tickets. Just show them on your phone.
答えb Printing the tickets is not necessary.
解説don't have to は「〜する必要はない」=not necessary。must not(〜してはいけない)と区別する。must be printed は逆。 sold out(売り切れ)は発話にない。
【覚える】don't have to=不要/must not=禁止。 - 5The meeting has been pushed back to next Wednesday.
答えa The meeting was postponed.
【覚える】push back=put off=postpone(延期する)。 - 6My sister hardly ever drinks coffee in the afternoon.
答えb She usually doesn't drink coffee in the afternoon.
only in the afternoon
【覚える】hardly ever=rarely=almost never。 - 7Our school festival couldn't have gone better.
答えb The festival was very successful.
could have been better(もっと良くできた)は逆。canceled・did not go well も逆。
【覚える】couldn't be better/couldn't have gone better=最高だ・最高だった。 - 8The last train had left, so I had no choice but to take a taxi.
答えa The speaker had to take a taxi.
解説have no choice but to 〜 は「〜するしかない」=had to。no choice の否定に引かれて chose not to take a taxi(乗らないことにした)を選ばないこと。終電は出た後なので caught the last train は誤り。
【覚える】have no choice but to V=have to V(〜するしかない)。
- 9W: Do you want to get lunch at the new café? M: I'd love to, but I have a meeting at noon. W: How about after that, around one thirty? M: Sounds perfect. What will they do?
答えd Have lunch together after the man's meeting.
Cancel their lunch plans Go to the meeting together
- 10M: Are you taking the 8:10 train tomorrow? W: That's the plan. M: You know it's always packed. W: Actually, I'll leave home earlier and catch the 7:40. Which train will the woman take?
答えc The 7:40 train.
- 11W: How much are the tickets? M: Twelve dollars each, but students get three dollars off. W: Great. Two students and one adult, please. How much will the woman pay?
- 12M: What time does the shop close? W: Usually at eight, but today it closes an hour earlier for inventory. What time does the shop close today?
答えc At 7:00.
but today … an hour earlier で8−1=7時。
- 13W: Have you started packing for the trip? M: I've just finished, actually. I'm about to take a shower. Which is true about the man?
答えc He has finished packing.
I'm about to take a shower は「これからシャワーを浴びる」なので has already taken a shower は誤り。is packing now(今荷造り中)・hasn't started(まだ始めていない)は段階の取り違え。
【覚える】have just p.p.=ちょうど〜した/be about to V=まさに〜しようとしている。 - 14W: Don't you like the jacket? M: It's not that I don't like it. It's just a bit too expensive for me right now. Why won't the man buy the jacket?
答えd It costs more than he wants to spend.
It's not that I don't like it 本当の理由は It's just の後の a bit too expensive(値段)。doesn't like the design wrong size・already has one は会話にない。
It's not that A. It's just B.=A - 15M: Where should I put this vase? W: Not on the table. Put it on top of the bookshelf, next to the clock. Where will the man put the vase?
解説Not on the table でテーブルを消し、on top of the bookshelf(本棚の上)と next to the clock(時計の隣)の2つの条件を両方満たすものを選ぶ。 「本棚の中」は on top of を in と取り違え。
Today, let's talk about vertical farming, which means growing crops indoors in stacked layers. Traditional farms need large areas of land and depend on the weather. Vertical farms, on the other hand, control light, water, and temperature with computers, so crops can be grown all year round. They also use about 90 percent less water than traditional farms, because the water is collected and reused. Another advantage is location. Vertical farms can be built inside cities, close to the people who eat the food, so less fuel is needed for transportation. However, vertical farming has a serious drawback: it uses a great deal of electricity for lighting. As a result, the vegetables are often more expensive than those grown outdoors. At present, most vertical farms grow leafy vegetables such as lettuce, which grow quickly and don't need much space. Crops like rice and wheat are rarely grown this way, because they would be far too expensive to produce. / 【ワークシート】 Vertical Farming / ● Conditions: controlled by computers → harvests [1] / ● Water: [2] / ● Location: near consumers → less [3] / ● Drawback: heavy use of electricity → [4] / ● Main crops: [5]

答えd throughout the year
解説all year round を throughout the year(一年中)と言い換えた正解。 only in summer・twice a year は講義にない。
【覚える】all year round=throughout the year=in every season。
答えc about 10% of the amount traditional farms use
聞こえた90をそのまま使った about 90% of the amount が罠。twice(2倍)・the same amount(同じ量)は「少ない」と矛盾する。
答えd fuel for transportation
解説close to the people who eat the food, so less fuel is needed for transportation の言い換え。land for farming(農地)は従来の農場の特徴、water for crops は別の項目(水)の話。
【覚える】near consumers→less transportation(輸送が減る)。
答えc higher prices for vegetables
解説As a result, the vegetables are often more expensive than those grown outdoors の言い換えで higher prices for vegetables。 lower quality(質が低い)・slower growth(成長が遅い)・fewer workers(働き手が少ない)は講義にない。
解説leafy vegetables such as lettuce, which grow quickly の言い換えで fast-growing leafy vegetables。rice and wheat は rarely grown this way(めったに育てない)と否定された作物で、聞こえた語の罠。fruit trees(果樹)・root vegetables(根菜)は講義に出てこない。
答えa Vertical farming is unlikely to replace rice fields in the near future.
do not need any electricity must be built far from cities
Here's how to use the new library printer. First, log in by touching your student ID card to the screen. Oh, wait. Before that, make sure you've saved your file as a PDF. After logging in, choose the number of copies. You don't need to select the paper size, because the printer does that automatically. Finally, press the green button.
答えc (B)→(A)→(C)→(E)
Before that で PDF 保存(B)が入る。 その後 After logging in で部数(C)、Finally で緑のボタン(E)。
Before that/After 〜ing/Finally=順序の目印。
You don't need to select the paper size(用紙サイズは選ばなくてよい、自動)なので (D) が使わない行動。
【覚える】don't need to/instead of/Don't 〜 に耳を張る。
