間接疑問文の作り方｜語順をAIで直すプロンプト3本

Do you know where is the station? は間違いで、Do you know where the station is? が正しい形です。間接疑問文は、疑問文の語順をやめて、ふつうの文の語順にします。Yes/No の質問には if か whether を使います。AIに英文を直してもらう・道を聞く会話をする・語順のクイズを出してもらう、の3本のプロンプトを紹介します。

道で英語で人に聞くとき、Where is the station? なら言えるのに、Can you tell me ～ をつけた途端に、語順に迷ったことはありませんか。Can you tell me where is the station? と言ってしまう人は多いです。今日は、この「丁寧に聞く形」の語順を、AI と練習するプロンプトを3本用意しました。
VOA Learning English｜Do You Know What an Indirect Question Is?には、次の例があります。
・Where is MacDougal Street?（直接の質問）
・Can you tell me where MacDougal Street is?（間接の質問）
同じ記事は、間接の質問をふつうの文の語順で作る名詞のかたまりと説明し、間違いの例として Do you know are they coming with us? を挙げています。
今日の3本は、次の練習です。
・自分で書いた間接疑問文の語順だけを、AI に直してもらう
・AI と道や店の場所について話し、Could you tell me ～ を声に出して使う
・正しい語順を選ぶクイズを、AI に1問ずつ出してもらう

Can you tell me where the station is? の where のあとは、is the station ではなく the station is の順です。頭では分かっていても、書くと疑問文の語順に戻ります。自分で書いた5文を AI に見せて、語順と if の使い方だけを直してもらいます。
I will write five sentences that start with phrases like "Could you tell me", "Do you know" or "I was wondering".

Use these rules:
- After the phrase, use the word order of a statement (subject + verb), not the word order of a question.
- Do not use the helping verb "do", "does" or "did" that makes a question. Keep them in negatives like "didn't", and when "do" is the main verb.
- For a yes/no question, use "if" or "whether".
For each sentence, answer in this form:

間接疑問文がよく使われるのは、知らない人に何かを聞くときです。駅への行き方、店の開く時間、トイレの場所。どれも、Where is ～? や What time ～? と短く聞くより、Could you tell me ～? で始めるほうが丁寧です。AI に通りがかりの人の役をしてもらい、聞く練習をします。

丁寧にしたい相手と場面で使う
VOA Learning English｜Do You Know What an Indirect Question Is?は、間接の質問を、情報を聞いたり頼んだりするときの、より丁寧な言い方として説明しています。知らない人や、あまり親しくない人に使うことが多く、友達に大きな頼みごとをするときにも使うそうです。
- ・道で知らない人に聞く：Could you tell me where ～?
- ・頼みごとをする：I was wondering if you could ～.
2本目のプロンプトで、相手を知らない人にして練習すると、使う場面がそのまま分かります。
⚠️ 使うときの注意
⚠️ AI に英文を直してもらうと、語順が正しい文を、さらに丁寧な言い方に変えて返してくることがあります。たとえば Where is the station? は、語順の誤りではありません。これを Could you tell me where the station is? に変えるのは、丁寧さを足しただけです。友達への短い質問なら、変える必要はありません。直しを受け取ったら、直した理由が語順なのか、丁寧さなのかを確かめてください。
言い方のあとは、ふつうの文の語順。Yes/No の質問には if か whether。疑問文を作るための do や did は、間接の形では消えます。見るところはこの3つです。まずは1本目のプロンプトで、Could you tell me ～ で始まる英文を5つ書いて直してもらってください。今日のうちに、Could you tell me where the station is? を声に出して3回言ってください。
