A man walks in a field. He throws seeds with his hand. Van Gogh copied this from a picture by Millet. He added bright colors. He loved Millet's art very much.

A man takes big steps across a field and throws seeds with one hand. Vincent van Gogh, the Dutch painter, made this in January 1890, while he was at a hospital in Saint-Rémy in the south of France. He based it on 'The Sower' by Jean-François Millet, a French painter he admired. It is now in the Kröller-Müller Museum in the Netherlands.
