A young woman in yellow bends over her work. She is making lace with small sticks wound with thread, called bobbins, and pins. The Dutch painter Johannes Vermeer made this around 1669 to 1670. It is only 24.5 centimeters tall and 21 centimeters wide, making it one of Vermeer's smallest paintings. It is now in the Louvre in Paris.

ダリ「この絵はサイの角でできている」！？ シュルレアリスムの画家ダリは、子どものころ父の書斎にこの絵の複製がかかっていたといわれ、生涯この絵を愛しました。1955年ごろにはルーヴルで模写をし、さらに「この絵はサイの角の形でできている」と言い出して、レースを編む女をサイの角のような形で描いた作品まで作りました。
