In front of a cave in a rocky hill, a monk in a brown robe opens his arms and looks up at the light. He is Saint Francis of Assisi, famous for his love of animals and nature. The Venetian painter Giovanni Bellini made this picture around 1475–1480. It is now in the Frick Collection in New York.

【本文の訳】岩山のほら穴の前で、茶色い服の修道士が両手を広げ、光を見上げています。動物や自然を愛したことで知られる、アッシジの聖フランチェスコです。描いたのはヴェネツィアの画家ジョヴァンニ・ベッリーニ。1475〜80年ごろの作品で、今はニューヨークのフリック・コレクションにあります。
