1One day, a couple was talking about their electricity bill in the living room. The husband complained that it was too high. His wife showed him an advertisement for solar panels and suggested that they put some on their roof. 2A month later, some workers were installing solar panels on the couple's roof. The couple watched them from the garden with big smiles. They were looking forward to saving money on electricity. 3That summer, the couple received their electricity bill. It was much lower than before, so they were able to use the air conditioner without worrying about the cost. The husband thanked his wife for her great idea. 4A few months later, however, their neighbor came to their door to complain. She said that the sunlight reflected by the panels was shining into her house. The couple looked shocked and did not know what to say.

No.1Please look at the fourth picture. If you were the wife, what would you be thinking?
I'd be thinking, "I'm sorry that we've caused trouble for our neighbor. We should have checked whether the panels would reflect light onto her house."
I'd be thinking, "We need to solve this problem quickly. I'll ask the company if they can change the angle of the panels."
No.2〜No.4(カードを裏返して)
No.2Do you think more families in Japan will install solar panels in the future?
Yes, I think so. Electricity prices have been rising, so more families are looking for ways to cut their energy costs. Solar panels are also becoming cheaper and more efficient. In addition, some local governments offer money to help people install them. Because of these trends, I believe solar panels will become a common sight on Japanese homes.
No.3Should the government give money to people who use renewable energy at home?
Yes, I think it should. Solar panels and home batteries are still expensive, and many families cannot afford them without help. If the government provided financial support, more people would switch to clean energy. This would reduce Japan's dependence on imported fuel and help the country reach its goals for cutting carbon emissions.
No.4Today, people often discuss what can be done about climate change. Do you think individuals can make a difference in fighting climate change?
Yes, I think so. One person's actions may seem small, but when millions of people change their habits, the effect becomes large. For example, if many people use public transportation, eat less meat, and save electricity at home, carbon emissions will go down. Individual choices can also put pressure on companies to offer greener products.
