This is a famous painting of sunflowers. Van Gogh painted it in 1888 in France. He wanted to make a room pretty for his friend Gauguin. Almost everything in it is yellow. Look at the vase. He wrote his name, 'Vincent', on it!
In August 1888, in Arles in the south of France, Van Gogh painted fifteen sunflowers in a vase. The background, the table and the vase are all yellow. It showed that a painting made almost only of yellow could be very powerful. It is one of his most famous still lifes, and it now hangs in the National Gallery in London.
