This is a funeral. A good man died. Two saints came down from heaven to help. Above them, his soul goes up to heaven. Look at the boy in the lower left. He is the painter's son. His handkerchief says 1578, the year he was born!

This huge painting is 4.8 meters tall and has two worlds, one above the other. Below is the funeral of the Count of Orgaz, who died in 1323. Two saints have come down from heaven and gently lift the count in his armor. Above is heaven. An angel carries the count's soul up to Christ and the Virgin Mary.
