It is Sunday in Paris. Many people dance and talk under the trees. Look at the white spots on their clothes. That is sunlight through the leaves! A smaller copy of this painting sold for 78 million dollars.

This is a Sunday afternoon at the Moulin de la Galette, an open-air dance hall on the hill of Montmartre in Paris. People chat at tables in the shade, and couples dance hand in hand. Sunlight comes through the leaves and falls in white spots on clothes and faces. Renoir painted this masterpiece when he was 35.
