By a lake in silver mist, a woman reaches up to the branch of a slender tree, while children pick flowers at her feet. The French landscape painter Camille Corot made this picture in 1864, when he was about 68. Today it is in the Louvre in Paris.

🦉 Fun Fact! In 1864, the year it was shown at the Salon, Emperor Napoleon III bought this painting with his own imperial funds. It then hung in the Palace of Fontainebleau, a home of the imperial family. It became part of the national museums in 1879 and came to the Louvre in 1889.
