The Virgin Mary sits in a green meadow and watches over two small children. The child on the right is the young Jesus. The kneeling child on the left, holding out a thin cross, is John the Baptist. Behind them are a lake, a town and gentle hills. Raphael painted it in 1505 or 1506, when he was living in Florence. It is now in the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna.

Fun Fact（訳）
えりもとに年号が隠れている マリアの赤い服のえりもとの金色の縁取りをよく見ると、模様にまぎれてローマ数字で年が書かれています。「M.D.V」とも「M.D.VI」とも読めるため、1505年か1506年の作品とされています。服の飾りにしか見えない、さりげない書きこみです。
