This young man wears a red cap. He has curly hair. He holds a sheet of music in his hand. Long ago, someone painted over the hand and the music. People found them again in 1905.

A young man with a red cap and curly hair looks off to the right. In his hand at the bottom right, he holds a folded sheet of music. This portrait is thought to have been painted by Leonardo da Vinci in Milan. It is the only portrait of a man among the paintings credited to Leonardo, although some experts think another artist painted it.

🦉 Fun Fact! For a long time, this was called a portrait of the Duke of Milan. But in 1904–05, restorers found a hand holding sheet music under later paint. The duke suddenly became a musician.
